You asked what how Ele gets out of this mess? Oh, no! You nasty bird. Or was Ele in the wrong? The saga continues…

I’m continuing with the elephant theme from Thursday to figure out this little elephant’s personality. We find Ele in a very precarious situation. Mama toots from below.
What on earth will he get into next?!?
Sometimes you just have “those” days and you get off on the wrong foot in the morning. All day I’ve been feeling down because of a discussion that happened with my daughter. I can’t wait ’til she comes home.
Posted for yesterday’s sketch. Trying out a personality for the little elephant.
So I spent a couple hours painting this elephant today. Quickly laid in color. Not taking too much time. Thinking about my color, mixing it on my pallet, then placing it on the paper. No need to go over and create layers and layers of paint. It feels fresh and extremely loose.
I feel the rhythm of their strut, feel the warmth of Africa, and enjoy the swing of their tails. “Tails”. Done.
It is just how I imagined it to be.
This feels like the last page in a picture book. I think I’ll write its story next.
Just got off of one of the busiest weekends of my life. (It reminded me of the holidays.) Am I glad it is Monday and I get some alone time with my pencil and paper! Ahhhhh!
I am continuing with the theme of “tail” and got this image in my mind of swinging tails. I wanted to see if I could draw the accentuated hip action and beautiful sway of an elephant — of a mama and her baby walking in sync as you can imagine them walking in Africa.
I will paint it tomorrow. Today, I ran out of day.
Busyness sure gets in the way of things. I’m playing a little catch-up with my sketch of the day and missed one in there. Oh well. I’m trying to stay on task.
So yesterday (since my Benjamin is constantly asking “is Thanksgiving tomorrow?” because he wants to make those candy corn, hi-ho cracker, gumdrop & frosting turkeys, of which I told him that we only make on Thanksgiving) I’ve had Thanksgiving on my brain. So I sketched a turkey last night. Also thought he sure wouldn’t be ready and willing to visit our table:
So for today, having passed by a neighbor’s pumpkins basking in the warm sun, they reminded me how much I love watching pumpkins’ faces morph as they begin to decay on the step. This is that pumpkin from memory (colorized in Photoshop):
Finally “Illustration Friday” chimed in with a topic today (each week there is a word and you have 7 days to come up with an idea, then post it on their blog, of which I’m determined to participate in one of these days.) The word is “tail.” I gave myself 5 minutes to brainstorm, and this is what came out:
